For Thy Delight Each May-Morning …

For Thy Delight Each May-Morning …

The Shepherds’ Swains shall dance and sing
For thy delight each May-morning:
If these delights thy mind may move,
Then live with me, and be my love.
(The Passionate Shepherd to His Love, Christopher Marlowe)

“One morning in May, oh, the rapture,
tonight darling, I pray to recapture
just one hour, just one flower
from love’s faded bouquet.” (Hoagy Carmichael, Mitchell Parish)

Dear Friends and Family,
We’re getting ready to head out on the road to the Pacific Northwest, excited to return to one of our favorite regions to perform in. Our itinerary is at the bottom of this newsletter: Friday, May 8 at Imagine Coffee in Corvallis; Saturday, May 9 at Soulfood Coffeehouse in Redmond, WA, which will be streamed live; Sunday, May 10 at Cabin Tavern in Bellingham; Thursday, May 14, at Egan’s Ballard Jam House in Seattle; and Friday, May 15, Portland OR House Concert hosted by our friend Janet Orjala. Hope to see you Northwesters at our shows!

“I am honored to be opening [at Imagine Coffee] for my good friends Chappell and Dave Holt as they pass through on their Northwest tour. If you got to see them at the Summit center when they last passed through, you know what fun and talented musicians and poets they are. If you didn't, you have a surprise treat in store.” Karl Smiley, musician/singer-songwriter.

Our heartfelt thanks to those friends, fans, and family who came out to our Avonova show, Oakland. You helped make it a wonderful night of music. Special thanks to Carlos Reyes for his musical gifts, Tom Ekkens for harmonicing and the support, and gracious host Jimmy Pederson.

In April, we did an interview with KC Cafe Radio, chatting with Kathy Forste, the Music Director. Here is a link to our interview. Kathy did a great job preparing her questions and studying up on her Chappell & Dave history. Thanks Kathy for the fun time talking with you.

Upcoming in June, our return to the Frank Bette Center, 1601 Paru St., Alameda, CA, for an evening of poetry and song on June 13th, 7 – 9 pm: ... And the Mom Hen FAR-West fundraiser at Mighty Fine Guitars, Lafayette, CA., Sat. June 27th  at 8 pm. This will be a great show. For the price of one admission (suggested donation $15 - $20) you will hear The Keller Sisters, Doug Adamz, Bill Amatneek, and of course Chappell and Dave Holt. Proceeds from this FAR-West fundraiser will go to either Venue Sponsorship or the Larman Scholarship.
